Clevique ("we," "our," or "us") respects the privacy of users of the Toukan Sync application (the "App") and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

1. Information We Collect

The App collects and uses the following information. All information is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers.

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Notion Integration Token
    • Purpose: To connect with Notion API, provided by you
    • Storage: macOS Keychain (OS-level encrypted credential storage)
    • Third-party sharing: None
  • Notion Data Source ID
    • Purpose: Identification of the Notion database where Markdown files are uploaded
    • Storage: On-device (UserDefaults)
    • Third-party sharing: None
  • Watched Directory Paths
    • Purpose: Folders you designate for automatic Markdown file detection
    • Storage: On-device (Security-Scoped Bookmarks, UserDefaults)
    • Third-party sharing: None

1.2 Information Automatically Processed

  • Markdown File Contents
    • Purpose: File contents are read and converted to Notion blocks for page creation in your Notion database
    • Storage: File contents are not stored within the App. After reading, they are sent to the Notion API and the original file is moved to the configured archive folder (default: archived/)
  • File System Access
    • Purpose: Detection of new .md files in watched directories and archive processing
    • Permission: Only directories explicitly selected by you through the folder picker are accessible (App Sandbox)

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect the following information:

  • Personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
  • Location data
  • Contacts
  • Photos/videos
  • Device ID/Advertising ID
  • Usage analytics data
  • Files outside of watched directories

2. How We Use Information

Collected information is used only for the following purposes:

  1. Notion API Integration
    • Connect to Notion API using the Integration Token you provide
    • Save Markdown file contents as Notion pages in your database
  2. App Functionality
    • Detect new Markdown files in watched directories
    • Convert Markdown syntax to Notion blocks
    • Archive processed files
  3. User Experience Enhancement
    • Save app settings (watched directories, launch configuration, etc.)
    • Display sync status

3. Third-Party Service Integration

The App integrates with the following third-party services to provide functionality:

3.1 Notion API

  • Provider: Notion Labs, Inc.
  • Purpose: Create pages in your Notion workspace
  • Data Sent: Page title, content blocks (headings, paragraphs) converted from Markdown files, target database identifier, and optional related page ID

Important: Access to Notion API uses the Integration Token you explicitly provide. No data is sent without your permission.

4. Data Storage and Protection

4.1 Local Storage

All configuration data is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers.

  • API Token: Encrypted in macOS Keychain (OS-level security)
  • Directory Settings: Stored as Security-Scoped Bookmarks in UserDefaults
  • Access Control: App Sandbox ensures only the App can access its data

4.2 Security Measures

  • App Sandbox enabled (Mac App Store requirement)
  • API token stored in Keychain (never in plain text)
  • HTTPS-only communication (Notion API)
  • Minimal entitlements (app-sandbox, files.user-selected.read-write, files.bookmarks.app-scope, network.client)

4.3 Data Deletion

  • App Uninstall: All configuration data is completely deleted
  • Token Deletion: Authentication information can be cleared from settings
  • Directory Removal: Watched directories can be removed from settings

Note: Pages uploaded to Notion and files moved to the archive folder (default: archived/) are not deleted when the App is uninstalled. These remain in your Notion workspace and local file system, respectively.

5. Third-Party Data Sharing

We never sell, exchange, or transfer your information to third parties.

Except in the following cases:

  1. With Your Explicit Consent
    • Sending data to Notion API (using the token you provided)
  2. Legal Requirements
    • Court orders, legal proceedings, government agency requests

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. California Residents' Rights (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request disclosure of collected personal information

Note: Since the App does not send personal information to servers, we do not hold any of your personal information.

8. European Residents' Rights (GDPR)

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), European Economic Area (EEA) residents have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of personal data
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Request deletion of personal data
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request restriction of personal data processing
  • Right to Data Portability: Request transfer of personal data
  • Right to Object: Object to personal data processing

Note: Since the App does not send personal data to servers, we do not hold any of your personal data. All data is stored on-device and completely deleted upon app uninstallation.
